Simple Sites Web Design
Portfolio of Simple Sites Web Design

Here is a listing of the some of the simple websites I have designed. Please note that although they share a similar structure, they are each quite unique in their own way.

Painless Math Professional Tutoring
Gail wanted a very simple website for her Professional Math Tutoring business. Her website offers the all important testimonnials on the main page and the second page is about her rates and how to contact her for more information or to book lessons. Since Gail teaches students of all ages, we embedded a boy and a woman in the header image to immediately convey that important fact to the viewers. This is an excellent example of how a business can have a classy internet presence with only a couple of pages. Launched March 1, 2013.
KJ Speckle Parks
Judy wanted a website for her cattle farm - this was the fastest website I ever did! She sent the photos and text and in less than a week the website was deisgned, tweaked and uploaded! Note that I used a watercolour setting in Photoshop on one of her lovely photos to create a very unique and personalized background image. This website went lfrom concept to live in 2 weeks! Launched in February, 2013.
Gateway Accounting & Bookkeeping Services
Leigh asked for a very simple website that would allow potential clients to contact her easily. Being a Simple Site, her website is very clean and well laid out. Her header photo is a stock image chosen because it contained a gateway and also had her avourite colours in it. This website went together very quickly and was up and running well before the tax season began. Launched December 2012.
Charis Counselling Services
Brian was looking for a very simple website for his counselling services. He had some hand drawn bears that he wanted incorporated into the website. We found a way to feature the bears in the blue background and also watermarked behind the content of each page. This website went together very quickly - from inception to launch took less than 3 weeks when it went live - October 2012.
Adventure Charters and Rentals
Janna asked me to design a simple website for her business in Williams Lake, BC. Besides advertising the different services offered by Adventure Charters and Rentals, she wanted to include a Ski Bus Calendar could easily be edited by her or her staff. We decided to embed a Google Calendar into the website and it works like a charm! Now her customers are able to look and book - right online! This website was launched in October, 2012.
House To Home Design
Kathy wanted a website to illustrate what a tremendous difference the right window coverings can make. She obtained some beautiful photos from her supplier "Shadomatic" and displays them throughout her website. Kathy worked closely with me to find colours that complemented her lovely photographs. This website went live in September, 2012.
Prince George Driving School
Raj had a website designed and hosted elsewhere, but he was unhappy with its performance. I switched him into a Simple Site and his website went together easily once we got started. Raj had some photos he wanted to manage himself, so we linked his photo gallery to Picasa so he can update his photos as he wishes. This website went live in September, 2012.
Hulk Janitorial
These ladies have a wonderful business with a terrific name! One of the best features of this website (besides the logo!) is the Before and After Gallery. With one glance, you can see what a difference it makes to have Hulk Janitorial come into your home or place of business to clean. This website went live in September 2012.
Cariboo Biomass Consulting Services
Kevin wanted a very simple website which he could use to give more information about his consulting business. It features a gallery that shows some of his previous contracts. Once this website got started in earnest, this website went together in less than a week! This website went live in September 2012.
Essential Home Skills
Teresa was eager to have a website for the Home Skills classes she offers. Not only does she offer sewing and cooking classes for kids, but she has Kidproof Safety Education Classes which teach home safety to school age kids. Her website is full of fun photos of kids enjoying her classes - and in March Break and the Summers, she offers Kids Camps. Teresa's website links to a blog with a Google Calendar embedded into it so people can see her class schedule. This website launched in March 2012.
Birch Bay Resort
Neil & Jackie wanted to have a website that would illustrate what a beautiful piece of the world this fishing resort is in. Although we had never met, we easily put this website together - they provided the stunning photos and descriptions and all I had to do was put it all together. This website took only a couple of weeks from start to finish - a testament to how beautifully organized Jackie is! This website launched in March 2012.
Harrison Hot Springs Marina
Although I have never met Warren from Harrison Hot Springs Marina, he easily communicated to me what wanted in a website and a couple of weeks later it was launched! His many photos of the gorgeous mountain backdrop by his marina made beautiful header images - again this was one of those websites that flew together quite easily. If you are in the Vancouver area in February - be sure to visit their booth in the Vancouver Boat Show! THis website launched in February 2012.
Driving For Life Academy
Chris Schulz wanted to redesign his driving academy website. He came to Simple Sites because he wanted a clean, simple look. It was such a delight working with someone who was so well organized - his website practically designed itself! The Driving For Life Academy website was launched mid December 2011.
Travel Croatia
George Kos was born in Croatia and loves nothing more than sharing his beautiful birth country with others. He has created a fabulous website that highlights many of the cities and don't-miss sights of Croatia. Each year he takes a small group of lucky tourists on an engaging tour of Croatia - this is not your average tour and George is definitely not your average tour guide! His website was carefully crafted to display the beauty of Croatia using photos as well as videos. Travel Croatia was launched mid December 2011.
Fort Machine Works
Fort Machine Works is based in Fort St. James. They wanted a redesign of their website. It was lovely working with people who knew exactly what they wanted. This website went together very smoothly and they have a website that reflects who they are and what they do, very simply. This website launched in December, 2011.
Braum Consulting
Although I have never met Coralie Braum, I feel like I know her quite well at this point! She found me online and asked me to revamp her consulting website to give it a more professional air. Coralie wanted something simple, yet stylish and together we came up with a very pleasing design that took less than 2 weeks from start to finish!
Nia In The North
Rosy has brought Nia to the North! Nia is sensory based movement that leads to health, wellness and fitness. Rosy wanted a website that was very simple, yet effective - much like Nia movement itself. Because Nia is SO much more than just dancing barefoot to soul-stirring music, Rosy also wanted a place on her website to explain her philosophy and her musings. It was a lot of fun making this website!
Sassafras Savouries Cafe and Catering Company
April from Sassafras Savouries wanted to have an updated website that would feature some of her mouthwatering dishes. We made each page header feature a different delicious recipe. We also created a special section for April's catering customers who can now easily access her different menus for business meetings, those very special occasions and gatherings of all sorts. If you haven't had the opportunity to have breakfast, brunch or lunch at Sassafras Savouries yet, you are missing a super treat!
Cranbrook Hill Bed and Breakfast
Angela wanted a simple web presence for her new - yet very unique bed and breakfast located on beautiful Cranbrook Hill. Her guests can step out of their private suite into the northern wilderness where may see an abundance of our local wildlife. We incorporated Angela's Facebook feed into her main page so when she updates her Facebook page, it updates on the website as well. This website was launched on April 18th. 2011.
Summerfield Farms
Summerfield Farms raises all natural, grass fed, full blood Limousin beef and sells (and delivers!) their amazing beef products to customers in the greater Prince George area. This was a fascinating website to build - I learned so much about the history of this very, very old breed of cattle. Cave paintings of Limousin bulls in the south of France date back well over 30,000 years! Limousin beef is renowned because of its leanness, its much larger yield and higher percentage of expensive cuts along the loin. This website has a unique background which depicts a Limousin bull drawing from the famous Chauvet Cave in France. It was launched at the end of March, 2011 and comes up one of the first in Google with the search of "grass fed beef prince george"!
Canyon Tree Farms
I discovered Lynn and Canyon Tree Farms at the UNBC Craft Fair. She and her husband sell a fabulous selection of all natural beef products as well as quality Angus cattle and paint horses. They wanted a website that would explain their all natural philosophy, feature their herd sire bulls and genetic testing results, list upcoming cattle sales and offer their sides of beef, full range of ready to eat and fresh sausage, jerky, hamburger patties and lean ground beef for sale. Canyon Tree Farms is proud to be the only producer in this area that has become a part of the Canadian Verified Beef Production Program. This website was launched at the end of January, 2011 and already comes up FIRST on a Google search for "Angus Breeder Fort St. James"!
Marine Plus
Trent and Kelly wanted a simple website for their successful marine parts business in downtown Prince George. Although the website itself is small, there is a link to their entire marine catalog online which allows customers, even ones from outlying areas, to view and easily contact Trent or Kelly to order their products. It also lets people look them up online and contact them directly. Trent chose to own several domains that all point to his website: marineplus.ca, marineplus.com and marinewest.com. Although the website is very new, is already comes up on the first page of Google with a search of "marine parts prince george"!
To The Core Pilates
It was a treat working with Emily to make this website for her Pilates classes. She knew exactly what she wanted and the website literally created itself. One of the most amazing things about this particular website is that Emily herself is the model in all the photographs! This adds such a personal touch since most websites like this have stock graphics. The website was only launched in mid November, but is already coming up on the first page with a search of "Pilates Prince George"!
Prince George Work at Home Moms
Originally this website was in Content Management, but needed constant security upgrades because of the complex coding. So I recently redesigned it into a simple site and the feedback I have had is that it is much cleaner and easier to navigate than before. This website was completely search engine optimized and in Google, the search of "WAHM Prince George" brings it up first!
Wild & Free Outdoor Photography
Darwin Paton is an outdoor and nature photographer - and also is an amazing artist and poet. He combines all these talents into his incredible photographs which he wanted to feature on a simple website. Darwin worked very closely with me and together we have come up with a striking website that showcases his photographic works of art. The photographs are all watermarked and click from the smaller images to very large to show great details. The photos are also separated into individual categories. And you can contact Darwin for a custom order, or order any of his photographs as fine art cards, photographs with frames or on canvas. This website was launched in July, 2010 and comes up very quickly in Google with the search "outdoor photography Robson Valley"!
Kermodei Adventures - Jet Boat Tours
The owner of this exciting adventure tour company came to me wanting a simple website that would market his wilderness jet boat tours on the beautiful Exchamsiks River, located between Prince Rupert and Terrace. Because he offers several variations on these tours, we chose to have a different page for each one, including a special page only for Cruise Tour passengers. This page is only linked from the Cruise Ship website since he created a jet boat shore excursion specifically for the Alaska bound cruise ships in Prince Rupert. Jason supplied me with the text and all his amazing photographs. If you find yourself looking for a little excitement in your life, you should really give him a call! This website was launched in June and already comes up first in Google with the search "jet boat tours Prince Rupert"!
On The Move Personal Fitness
Kris & Brianne Russell started On The Move Personal Fitness several years ago but came to me because they wanted a fresh new look for their website. They don't offer the usual fare in their gym - their goal is to teach your body to work in perfect balance. Classes are held indoors and out and they even have a program for brand new moms to get back into shape! They wanted a website that was clean and easy to navigate for their clients to find information on all the different programs they offer. With all the lovely photos they provided me, this website was up and running in very short order! Visit their website and sign up for a free Drop In session! I'm happy to say that On The Move Fitness comes up on the first page when searching for "Fitness Prince George" in Google!
Sew North Gifts
Tamara of Sew North Gifts is an amazing fabric artist who uses recycled materials to create her one-of-a-kind aprons, bags, beanbags, bibs, blankets and more. She had a very particular idea of what she wanted her website to look like and I was so happy to help make her dreams come true! Her website is a scrapbook of memories - beginning with the fabric background which came from a dress her mother had made for the three of them (herself, Tamara and her little dolly, Suzie). The photos in this website have all been carefully framed to appear as though they are in a scrapbook. The images have been saved in layers so that they can be updated in the future a little easier. You can order any of the items on her website, or she can sew new life into your own memorable fabric. "handcrafted tote bags prince george" brings up this website 1st in Google!
Ridgeview Gardens Bed & Breakfast
If only all my customers were this organized! Geoff and Patti have a beautiful Bed and Breakfast overlooking the Nechako Valley and they wanted their own website to help promote it. They kept things very simple which makes it easy for a potential customer to see the features of their luxurious Garden Suite and Birch Bedroom. Their website was launched in January, 2010 and after suggesting that they place themselves on Google Maps, by February they were coming up 4th on Google Maps with this search: "bed and breakfasts prince george, bc".
dish Personal Chef Services & Outside Catering
dish Personal Chef Services and Outside Catering wanted a simple website that would showcase her mouth watering dishes! It was just wonderful working with Trish! She wanted a website with very simple lines so that her gourmet food would be featured. She was involved in every detail of making this website and we worked back and forth until the website reflected the food stylist she was! Her food photographs were a feast! We hoped to get across the point that Trish does not only do the usual fare - she also creates gourmet meals for you to reheat at your home or office! This website is completely search engine optimized and was only recently launched. A Google search using "food catering prince george, bc" brings this website up on the first page!
Mead Manor Bed & Breakfast
Laura had a number of listings with bed and breakfast directories, but she wanted to have her very own website so she could feature her lovely bed and breakfast in her own way. It was important for her to have a photo gallery so that she could show potential guests her rooms and their private living areas. And the photo of her sun room is worth more than a thousand words! It looks out to her glorious garden filled with the most interesting bird houses. This website is completely search engine optimized and comes up nicely in a search for "bed and breakfasts prince george, bc" on Google Maps.
Project Friendship Society
I was delighted to find myself working on another project with Sandra Nahornoff! The Project Friendship Society is a registered charity that connects people isolated with various disabilities into the community, by encouraging the citizens of Prince George to welcome them into their local associations. Along with information about the Society and coming events, the finished website provides a complete listing of local organizations and their contacts as well as many of the stories behind these special connections. This was a very large project with a great deal of information. To cut down on design costs, we chose to format the PG Connector Directory and Stories as PDF files which could be easily updated by the Society without paying for web design time. This website is completely search engine optimized and comes up 1st in a search for "project friendship" on Google.
The Proper Construction of Lawn Bowling Greens
This website describes a bit of the revolutionary technique to build a lawn bowling green properly and provides a link to order the manual, with all proceeds from sales of the manual going to the US Lawn Bowls Association. It is an extremely simple site, but is so well entrenched in Google that it comes up among the first with a search of "Lawn Bowling Greens"! This website was originally launched in 1997 but recently was redesigned into a Simple Site.
Heidi Rupprecht Woodturning Artist
Heidi is a world class woodturning artist and wanted a website that would showcase her amazing work. She requested watermarks for each of her images and also wanted them to enlarge to show details. Her literally website "spoke to me" and pretty much designed itself around her wooden sculptures. I am particularly proud of converting her previously black logo into an art piece, also. This website launched in June 2009 and already comes up on the first page of Google with the search "woodturning artist".
MB Business Services Ltd
MB Business Services Ltd caters to small businesses in the Prince George area. If you need help with any of your financial services, I hope you will consider this very professional business.

Tops & Bottoms Lingerie
These business owners wanted to revamp their existing website into a Simple Site that would be very feminine and showcase examples of their exquisite European Lingerie. By sorting the lingerie into both brands and categories, customers can easily find what they are looking for. I displayed each article on lingerie using images which link to a higher resolution image for more detailed viewing. This website is completely search engine optimized and a search of "lingerie prince george" bring this website up first!
Sandra Nahornoff Wildlife Artist
Sandra Nahornoff is an award winning wildlife artist in BC. She wanted a website that would showcase her art and also make it available for purchase. Sandra worked with me throughout the website development by viewing my progress on a temporary website. This website is completely search engine optimized and a search of "wildlife prince george" bring this website up on the first page!
Don Haley Music
This is a personal website for a disabled musician in California. Don wanted a website that would tell his story and showcase his music. Because he has very limited funds, I linked him to a free blog and configured it to look like his website, so he can update it anytime he wants and it costs him nothing! I also linked to a website which allows people to hear his music after he uploads them. Now he can get music producers to listen to his music even if they are across the country! GOF Flies and Lures
This retired Colorado rancher wanted to spend the rest of his days doing what he loves and does best - tying custom fishing flies. I made him a website that showcases the hundreds of flies that he makes. Buyers can purchase the flies online since it uses a PayPal Shopping Cart. Each photo of a fly was scanned and presented as a large thumbnail image that clicks to a higher resolution image for detailed viewing. This website grows and grows as he adds more flies to his inventory. This website is completely search engine optimized and a search of "custom hand tied fishing flies" bring this website up first!

Spruce City Wildlife Association
The Spruce City Wildlife Association has a very large website that holds a great deal of information. It was important that this website be easy to navigate in order for the many different groups in this association to obtain their information. One of the most important parts of this website is the events Calendar which lets the public know of upcoming fundraisers and fun events. The SCWA is a very important group of committed volunteers.
BC Trappers Association
This was the original Simple Site! I made this website years and years ago and when it took off so well, I began to analyze why.
